Liberty Sailing Club is a not for profit organization owned and operated by its members. Because there is no paid staff, the club relies entirely on the volunteer efforts of its membership to manage all club operations, including maintenance on our J/27 fleet. Liberty Sailing Club is open to all sailors ?? from beginners to experts. Located on the Delaware River in Center City, Philadelphia, the club has a fleet of J/27 sloop rigged sailboats designed for performance sailing. Members can sail as much as they like. Some choose to race, some to cruise, and some to race and cruise. What you do and how often is up to you! Liberty Sailing is an adult club. For safety reasons, children under the age of 11 are not allowed on our boats or on the dock. The regular sailing season starts the first week in May and goes through mid-September, with Frostbite racing each Spring and Fall. Racing Program The racing program lets you sharpen your sailing skills, including flying a spinnaker. Wednesday and Thursday nights are reserved for racing, with four five week series. The boats leave the dock between 5:30 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. Cruising Program Tuesday nights are reserved for fun sails, with the boats leaving the dock around 5:45 p.m. On other nights and weekends, members with a Liberty skipper on board can take boats out. The club also organizes weekend cruises on the Chesapeake Bay and an annual week long charter.
